
CHST 640: Comprehensive Sex Education:
This course is intended for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) to engage in an exploration of critical and ethical debates surrounding sex education curricula and instruction across Canada and North America. Students will build understanding and analytical skills through critical discussions of the theoretical orientations that guide sex education within and beyond schools. Learners will also explore ways in which educators can use research-informed best practices in sex education by critically engaging with a variety of tools, resources, and pedagogies. The goal of the course is for learners to understand research-based approaches to comprehensive sex education, and the implications of sex education for young people across Canada.
