The primary focus of this class is on learning how to do syntax. While theories develop and change, having skills such as making generalizations, applying tests, providing logical argumentation, and testing predictions of hypotheses will always be necessary for any syntactic analysis. Upon successfully completing this course, students will (i) gain an in-depth knowledge of the basics of syntactic reasoning and behaviours, and (ii) be better equipped with a set of syntactic tools to perform diagnostics.
