PSYC 310/03 (Fall 2024): RESEARCH METHODS & DESIGNS I

COURSE DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

This course has been designed to give you an overview of the various research strategies available to researchers in the behavioral sciences. In addition to learning about these methods, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge by developing a research proposal. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

• Critically evaluate research in psychology and any associated claims.

• Understand ethical principles for conducting research and reporting research results.

• Understand the strengths and limitations of different research designs. • Interpret descriptive research results.

• Design an original psychology research experiment.

• Write a research proposal in accordance with APA style.
