This class explores basic elements of playwriting by analyzing the work of notable playwrights and by completing a series of short in-class writing assignments focusing on (but not limited to) dramatic action, character, language and dialogue, theme, form, subject, and the physical life of the play. During the semester, each student will write and then revise a short one-act play for the stage.
