BLDG 484/V (Winter 2024): DIAGN & REHAB OF BLDG ENVELOPE
- The building envelope functions as a barrier to separate a building’s indoor environment from the outdoor climate
- Deficiencies or defects of the building envelope reduce long-term performance (durability) of envelope
- This leads to costly repairs, and as well, affects the well-being of building occupants (i.e. thermal, acoustical & health)
- May also compromise the thermal performance of the building resulting in increased operating costs
- As such, ensuring building envelope performance through proper maintenance and repair, is an essential element towards achieving energy efficient, high performance buildings having indoor environmental comfort and safety
