THEO
351 AA 2232 is geared towards an ultimate
understanding of human ethics
and ethical living
with respect to a notion of theology,
which we will ultimately understand as an orientation towards (and a puzzling
over) a notion or sense of transcendent
being.
Course Objectives
- To assist students in developing an approach to understanding the terms “theology,” “ethics,” “transcendent being” and “theological ethics” and the significance of understanding how these different terms may be interpreted;
- To assist students in developing a foundational understanding of some significant theologians/philosophers of ethics in the Western theological tradition;
- To develop skills for critically approaching scholarly literature and contemporary issues in theological ethics; and
- To develop tools for participating in theological ethics as a self-reflective activity of expanding horizons, and consider the expansion of horizons as pointing towards an idea of transcendent being.
